Transitional Housing Programs
Due to the alarming homeless rates among former foster youth, the California State Legislature created Transitional Housing Program- Plus (THP-Plus) in 2001. This program has made it possible for youth ages 18-25 years old, to be housed for up to 36 months. While being housed they receive support and assistance they need to succeed. THP’s provide housing, while overseeing young adults who are in or who have recently left the foster care system.
The most important thing our youth need is housing. Without housing, our youth are at risk of various defeats. According to nationalsafeplace.org, “Homeless youth are at increased risk of harm in comparison to other youths their age. They are more likely to experience mental illness, suffer poor health, drop out of school, and become involved with or become victims of criminal activity. Life on the streets is dangerous and unpredictable, leaving homeless youth vulnerable to being exploited, abused, or killed.”

Our Mission
At Arete Stoa Foundation INC. we hope to strengthen foster youth in overcoming the effects of trauma by giving them the support they need. We believe that everyone deserves access to resources that empower them to thrive.
At Arete Stoa Foundation INC. all rent and utilities will be paid for. We not only want to provide housing, but we also want to provide a place our youth can be proud to call home. All homes will be furnished with all the basics and more. We want our youth to feel well taken care of and optimistic about their futures. We believe that with the right resources and some compassion our youth can secure and maintain stable employment, learn basic life skills, as well as a positive moral compass.
